The Norman Kretzmann Library was established in the year of 2007 by Dr. Eleonore Stump, Robert J. Henle Professor of Philosophy at Saint Louis University. Dr. Stump generously donated her inherited personal library from Dr. Norman Kretzmann, who was a professor of philosophy at Cornell University.

Since its establishment, the Kretzmann library has received book donations from many scholars. Dr. Stump also has been buying newly published books from Cambridge University Press and Oxford University Press. Currently the Kreztmann Library has over 15,000 books.
